Event Details:
Red Dress Day (formally known as the National Day for Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirited People) started in 2010 by Metis artist Jaime Black in Winnipeg to bring awareness to the thousands of Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people who have gone missing or have been murdered (at a rate significantly higher than non-Indigenous women). Her goal with the art installation was to confront people with the violence that women have and are still experiencing, and to create a space for women to tell their stories.
Join us for a Commemoration Service in St. Marys hosted by Kaswentha - Two Row Now (an Indigenous-led group focused on sharing knowledge and building community across Huron-Perth).
All are welcome
